On Friday, June 5th, TMBA held a press conference to address insensitive comments made by Christina Shea, Mayor of Irvine, in her Mayor’s Corner video subtly denouncing peaceful protests held in Irvine in response to the murder of George Floyd and supporting Black Lives Matter.

Our President-Elect, Rebekah Thomas, and Vice President, Hollie Washington, spoke at the press conference and fielded questions from attendees. They were joined by Irvine City Councilmember Farrah Khan, who also spoke, and Reverend William Summerville, who moderated the event.
